I guess that’s what happens when the culture of a country is “don’t tell me what to do” individualism to the nth degree.
If you’re brought up to think you must “make your own way”, and shouldn’t depend on anyone else’s help, why should anyone feel trust in public intuitions? “They don’t know what’s best for me, only I do”.
This is a deep cultural problem in the U.S. which they will have to face and to to reverse. China’s collectivism and the U.S.’s Individualism are two extremes, both going too far in each direction.
