Exclusive: Humans placed in suspended animation for the first time

OtherExclusive: Humans placed in suspended animation for the first time

i have been reading about suspended animation as a technique for long space trips and i wonder how this will really work.

obviously, huge potential for side effects, i would guess some sort of damage is inevitable, worth the risk in emergencies but for a flight to Mars when the cosmonaut is out for 6 months, what it be like not just after but during the trip — is it possible that some sort of consciousness remains and it is very unpleasant?

what are the results of long freezing in experimental animals, especially in tests of cognition?
